EVEN MORE GREAT NEWS FROM  JERSEY CANADA!!!

L'EXPO B.B.Q. BELLCHASSE JERSEY SHOW SHIMMERS AND SHINES!

It was "standing room only" on the evening of July 9th as over 250 dairy producers and their families thronged into the dairy show barn at the 2004 rendition of the B.B.Q. Bellechasse Jersey show at Saint-Anselme, Quebec.
This relatively new Jersey show was very capably judged by David Crack, Jr. of Richmond, Quebec.
Over 20 exhibitors from Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Ontario and Alberta brought out a high quality offering for Crack to evaluate.

It was a "banner day" for the team of Pierre Boulet and Laurent Lambert of St. Francois Montmagny, Quebec as their string claimed the Premier Exhibitor banner, was runner-up for the
Junior Exhibitor Banner and contained the Grand Champion Female.
Wearing the evening's major rosette was Bridon Ren Radiance-ET, a senior three year old. Radiance is sired by Hollylane Renaissance renowned sire bred by Roger E. Ray and Diane Jarrell-Ray of Hollylane Jerseys and Rosel Sires, Corbyville, Ontario. Lambert and Boulet had acquired the cow just a few days before the show from her breeders the Sayles families of Bridon Farms Inc., Paris, Ontario.
An equally great evening was enjoyed by the Marcel Choiniere Family of St. Alphonse-de- Granby, Quebec. The Choinieres took home the Premier Breeder banners-Junior and Overall, and owned the Junior Champion of the show.
Select BS Bodygold 2-ET, a December 2003 model sired by Heaths Blackstar-ET bested her rivals to wear the big ribbon among the junior females.
A very new family in Jersey circles but not in the dairy industry, the Donald Beland family of Neuville, Quebec captured the Junior Exhibitor Banner, were runners-up for the Overall Premier Exhibitor banner and owned the Reserve Junior Champion Female. Marshdene Miss Mackenzie is a September 2003 heifer, sired by Rapid Bay Just Wait (bred by the Borland family of Ormstown, Quebec) and bred by the Marshalls of Marshdene Farm, Innerkip, Ontario. This heifer had topped the Jersey sale at the International Dairy Showcase in St- Hyacinthe, Quebec in April 2004.

Three other major awards were won by the following animals and owners and breeders:

Reserve Grand Champion Female: Industrious Counciller Traci, owned by Rejean Leclerc, St- Isidore-de-Dorchester, Quebec. Bred by the Gass Family of Lennoxville, Quebec this cow is sired by Glenhome Counciller, a member of the Semex Alliance proven sire line-up bred by the Mellow family of Glenholme Farms, Bolton, Ontario.

Honourable Mention Grand Champion Female:
Willow Creek Remake Treasure, the property of Marie-France Ross and Jean-Noel Labbe of Ferme Elegance, St Gervais-de-Bellechasse, Quebec. This daughter of ABS Global sire Rock Ella Remake-ET (bred by Rock Ella Jerseys, Hornby, Ontario) was bred by David and Anne Honderich and family of New Hamburg, Ontario.

Honourable Mention Junior Champion Female:
Payneside Furor Oshgosh, owned by Marlin and Christian Palich of Cortland, Ohio and Alex McCaig of Ormstown, Quebec.  Oshgosh was bred by Doug and Jill Robinson and son of Payneside Jerseys, Finch, Ontario. She is sired by Piedmont Nadine Furor, an Alta Genetics sire bred by Piedmont Jersey Incoprorated of Coaticook, Quebec.

Virtually all the local exhibtors were dairy producers who have invested wisely in their future by adding Jerseys within the last three years!
