HEIFER TOPS ROYAL JERSEY
SALE OF STARS!
Throughout 2004 offspring of Select Sires star-
player Windy Willow Montana Jace have
consistently topped major Jersey sales in the
USA. On November 7th two Jace progeny
ranked as high selling female and second high
selling syndicated male at the All American
Jersey sale in Louisville, Kentucky. Three days
later a March 2004 "Jace" heifer expanded the
trend north of the border. Unique Jace Belle-
ET attracted the $10,300 top price of the 2004
Jersey Sale of Stars at the Royal Agricultural
Winter Fair in Toronto, Ontario on November
10th. This appealing youngster was consigned
by the Morey family of Unique Valleystream
Genetics, Rochester, Alberta.
Excited to be new owners of the star of the Sale
of Stars are progressive Jersey breeders Tom
and Wendy Klaustermeier of Prairie Harbour
Jerseys, Glencoe, Minnesota, USA.
Belle's status as the new Number One Jersey
Heifer in Canada for Parent Average Lifetime
Profit Index was her own unique attraction. Her
November 2004 Parent Average figures are:
+1915 kgs milk, +91 fat, -.05% fat, +69 protein,
-.06% protein, +8 type, 2.84 SCS, +1969 LPI,
convincingly ahead of the rest of the population.
Just weeks before the sale Belle's dam Lencrest
Par for Belle VG had earned the distinction of
being the number one Jersey cow in Canada for
Lifetime Profit Index at +2442. Par For Belle had
been the highselling lot in the 2002 Jersey sale
at the RAWF and is a much-sought after choice
for AI bull contracts. At 2-1 Par for Belle is
projected to 9879 504 5.1% 388 3.9% BCAs
(390-371-404). She was bred by Gary and
Maureen Bowers and family of Lencrest Farm,
Coaticook, Quebec. The second dam Piedmont
Declo Belle VG-89% is the number five cow for
LPI in Canada and was Intermediate Champion
at the RAWF in 2003. Behind this cow are five
generations of Excellent dams with the fourth
dam being the world famous Duncan Belle. Both
Par for Belle and Declo Belle are sired by
members of the Select Sires line-up Rock Ella
Paramount and Barbs MBSB Declo
respectively.
Ken and Karen Kingdon and family of
Charlyn Jerseys, Forest, Ontario were
pleased to be the breeders and consignors of
the sale's second high seller Charlyn Blackstar
Eve, a fancy September 2003 heifer. Eve is now
owned by Ferme Jocelyn Cote, South
Durham, Quebec. Her selling price was $6,000.
Eve had been in the top three placings at three
of the largest and strongest Jersey shows in
Ontario during 2004. She is sired by Heaths
Blackstar a young sire marketed in Canada by
Jeff Stephens and Michael Heath. Her Very
Good dam Charlyn Saturn Echo has three
lactations averaging +9 for milk, +27 for fat and
+27 for protein with 5.6% fat and 4.2% protein
and is sired by Semex sire Van Holme
Imperial's Saturn, Ex-95%. The next dam by
Semex sire Curtsey Duncan Jude
is from five
generations of Very Good and Excellent dams
who are part of the famed "E" family at Elmline
and Jaspar Jerseys which yielded the famed
Jaspar Renaissance Evening and Envision.
Third high seller at $3500 was another
September 2003 heifer. Ronada Ren Susan-
ET. Susan, who comes from a proven cow
family, was consigned by Ada Bergveld and
Ron Hannah of Ronada Jerseys, Belleville,
Ontario. She was the selection of BEL
International for one of their international
clients. Susan is a daughter of "household
name" sire Hollylane Renaissance and has two
Excellent well known and respected full sisters
in the USA. One of them is a Semex bull
mother. Her Ex90%-3E dam Ronada Imp
Sophie has four consecutive records over 375
kgs of fat and averages +32 milk, +39 fat and
+36 protein and 5.2% fat and 4.1% protein over
her six lactations. Sophie is sired by Semex
foundation sire Meadow Lawn J Imperial 50R
ET.
A special additional feature of the 2004 Sale of
Stars was the sale of a richly-bred donation calf
for the 2005 World Jersey Cattle Bureau
International conference in Canada. The calf,
Norval Acres Online Mickey-ET is an April
2004 model donated by her breeders the
McCaig families of Norval Acres Jerseys,
Huntingdon, Quebec. Investing in this
daugther of an Ex 94% fifth generation
Excellent, Three Star brood cow for $1700 were
David and Tracy Morey and family of Unique
Valleystream Genetics in Alberta.
In all 18 regular lots sold for an average of
$2961.11 Demand for these select lots came
from three US states-Wisconsin, Minnesota,
Oklahoma and Canadian provinces Ontario,
Quebec, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Sales administrators were BEL International
with the Sayles family of Bridon Farms Inc.,
Paris, Ontario handling selection work.
