SPRING 2005 JERSEY AUCTION SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

January 18, 2005, Reynoldsburg, Ohio–Six spring auction sales were announced today by Jersey Marketing Service, the professional cattle marketing subsidiary of National All-Jersey Inc., Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

 

Approximately 1,000 Registered Jerseys™ will be offered in these sales, taking place in Kentucky, Alabama, New York, Vermont, Kansas and Pennsylvania.

 

Animals selling will have permanent, verifiable identification. All buyers receive registration certificates and official performance pedigrees from the American Jersey Cattle Association for their purchases. Pre-sale, all animals are pregnancy checked and examined on site by a licensed veterinarian. Milking females will have a negative culture for Staph. aureus and Mycoplasma species.

Spring Sales By Month

 

There are four sales on the April calendar, starting with the 43rd Kentucky National Show and Sale on Friday, April 8 in Louisville. More than 100 animals of all ages, plus selected embryo packages, will be offered.

 

A week later, on Saturday, April 16, 250 head will sell in the combined Deep South Sale and Southeast Heifer Growers-South Sale, hosted at Arco Farm, Sylacauga, Ala.

 

The cream of Northeast Jersey herds will sell on April 23 in New England Spring Sale, to be held at the fairgrounds in New Haven, Vt. The 275 head to sell will include a select group of calves for the Golden Bonus youth development program.

 

April’s schedule concludes with 250 Jerseys selling at the New York Spring Sale on April 30 in Whitney Point, N.Y.

 

May begins with the Heartland Production Sale at the farm near Seneca, Kans. Owners Jerry and Sue Spielman will offer a selection of 100 high-quality females on Saturday, May 7.

 

The 48th annual National Heifer Sale will be held Saturday, June 25 in Washington, Penna., during the annual meetings of the American Jersey Cattle Association and National All-Jersey Inc. Approximately 80 heifers will be offered, all of them donated by their consignors with proceeds benefiting the AJCC Research Foundation and national Jersey youth programs.

 

Other 2005 Sales

 

Sales are being booked for the summer and fall of 2005. Among them is the Pride of the West Sale in mid-July at the fairgrounds in Tillamook, Ore. A total of 60 top individuals, among them eight heifers for the Pot O’Gold program, will be offered.

 

During September, JMS will manage two sales in the northeast. The New York Fall Sale will feature 200 animals to be sold in Whitney Point, N.Y., on Saturday, September 24. The Vermont Jersey Breeders’ Sale of 300 lots will be at the fairgrounds in North Haverhill, N.H., on Tuesday, September 27.

 

The first week of October will bring two sales in southern Wisconsin, beginning with the Top of the World Sale on Wednesday, October 5 in Madison, and followed by the third Dairyland Production Sale in Janesville. These sales will be followed by the Ohio Fall Production Sale on October 15 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Wooster. Over 250 lots will be sold.

 

Late fall sales include another Pot O’Gold Sale for youth between the ages of 7 and 20 on Saturday, November 5. The 53rd All American Jersey Sale will be the following afternoon, November 6. Both sales will be in facilities at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center, Louisville.

 

Founded in 1971, Jersey Marketing Service completed its best year in 2004, selling 6,138 lots for a gross value exceeding $10.24 million and an average price of $1,669.64.
