Post Conference Tour France

Sunday 25th May
Bienvenue en France! Delegates are sure to have a wonderful time in this beautiful and hospitable country. All delegates will travel together for the duration of this week.
 
  • Following arrival in the morning, delegates are at leisure for lunch within the walled town of St Malo
  • Drive to Le Mont St Michel for overnight at the Hotel Mercure.

Monday 26th May
There is a magic to the islet of Le Mont St Michel
 
  • The tides in the area change quickly, and have been described by Victor Hugo as "â la vitesse d'un cheval au galop" or "as swiftly as a galloping horse". The tide actually comes in at one metre per second!!!
  • The morning will include a visit to this World Heritage Site and the abbey, with lunch at delegates leisure
  • Afternoon visit to the farm and Jersey herd of Olivier Silvan's at Proussy
  • Onward to Caen for dinner and overnight at the Hotel Mercure.

Tuesday 27th May
Today delegates travel in the footsteps of the brave young soldiers who took part in the World War Two D-Day landings in 1944
   
  • The days starts at the Memorial in the centre of Caen
  • A coach tour follows around the landing beaches, including Arromanches and the American Cemetery
  • A visit to Bayeux and the world famous 11th century tapestry depicting an invasion of a different sort when William, Duke of Normandy, invaded England in 1066
  • Dine and overnight in Le Mans at the Hotel Mercure.

Wednesday 28th May
Today delegates spend time studying Jerseys in France
   
  • A visit to St Georges Sur Loire and the farm and herd of Jean Laurent Jubin
  • Travel to St Augustin des Bois for a traditional gastronomique lunch
  • Farm and Creamery visit to Bernard and Genevieve Gaborit's at Maulevrier
  • Evening visit to Maulevrier for French celebration dinner and entertainments
  • Overnight in Cholet at the Hotel Ibis or the Villa des Lys
For delegates wishing to enjoy something extra special, spend the night at Château Colbert. Over looking the Parc Oriental, it is quite possibly one of the most beautiful locations on the tour. Rooms
are limited at the Château and reservations will be made on a first come, first served basis (supplement payable).

Thursday 29th May
The French describe the Loire Valley in one word - Sérénité
   
  • A visit to the Parc Oriental, the largest example in Europe of a formal Japanese garden
  • Onto the caves at Saumur for a tour, wine tastings and lunch in this famous wine producing area
  • In the afternoon a visit to Azay Le Rideau and its 15th Century Château - a fine example of the 'belle époque'
  • Dinner and overnight in Chatres at the Hotel Mercure.

Friday 30th May
A day of history, art and culture
   
  • Morning visit through the historic town on a little train, and stop at the famous Chartres Cathedral
  • Soak up the atmosphere during lunch at delegates leisure in Chatres town centre
  • Afternoon visit to Giverny and the house & gardens of the famous impressionist painter Claude Monet
  • Dinner in Giverny
  • Onward to Paris and overnight at the Hotel Mercure, Gare de Lyon, Paris.

Saturday 31st May
How do we describe Paris? We can't, you must come and see for yourself!
   
  • A morning City Tour will ensure Paris stays with you forever
  • Lunch and afternoon in Paris at leisure
  • Evening river cruise and farewell dinner cruise down the River Seine for an unforgettable view of this beautiful city
  • Overnight at the Hotel Mercure, Gare de Lyon, Paris.

Sunday 1st June
Au revoire
 
   
  • As the Conference Tour ends here, we all say our goodbyes and depart on our onward journeys
  • Buses to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Paris Orly Airport (ORY) with be provided.
