Welcome to the World Jersey Cattle Bureau 18th Conference 2008!

“Welcome to the Island home of the Jersey... where it all began as long as three hundred years ago...

The Pre Conference Tour week takes in some of the most picturesque locations to be found in England, beginning in the South East and will include visits to some of the flagship Jersey farms, highlighting the achievements of Britain’s younger breeders. The tour continues north to see one the UK’s greatest National Parks, the ‘James Herriot country’ of the Yorkshire Dales. Continuing down the west of England, visits take in the Roman City of Chester, Ironbridge, and a tour of one of the UK’s most famous heritage sites, the neolithic standing stones at Stonehenge. A day at the Devon County Show will include a national show of British Jerseys. The week finishes with a day in London for an excellent opportunity to take in some of the sights and sounds of the Capital City.

The Conference week in Jersey, the Island home of the breed, is a must for all Jersey cattle enthusiasts at least ‘once in a lifetime’. Staying in one of the Island’s premier hotels for the duration of your stay, there will be a real opportunity to relax and enjoy the best the Island has to offer. The 18th WJCB International Conference will be informative and challenging with a line up of top speakers. As well as the formal sessions, there will be alternative tours taking in the Island’s best visitor attractions. Every day will be filled with memorable activities and visits, including visits to the globally acclaimed Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, 13th Century ‘Mont Orgueil’ castle, and two of the Island’s manor houses. Farm visits will take you to the Island’s prized herds, ‘Coming Home’ to where it all began. The Tour finale will be at the Royal Jersey Agricultural & Horticultural Society’s ‘Foire de Jersey’ a major Island event and focal point for the 175th Anniversary year of the Society.

The Post Conference Tour begins with a short ferry journey from the Island of Jersey to Brittany, in North West France, and the port of St Malo, famed for its ancient walled city and excellent cuisine. From here you will travel to the abbey of Le Mont St Michel and have a tour of this famous world heritage site, located one mile off the coast of Normandy. Moving north you will have guided visits to the WW2 Normandy Landing Beaches and Bayeux where you will be able to view the famous tapestry depicting the battle of Hastings in 1066. Moving into the Loire Valley region of France, renowned for its spectacular chateaux and scenery, you will be indulged with the gastronomic delights for which France is rightly famous. Visits will be made to a number of Jersey herds including a long-established creamery, which produces speciality organic produce marketed all over France. Finish your week with a tour and evening cruise in Paris, Europe’s most romantic city.

…We will make certain you have a

memorable time.
